FAILURE TO MEET OR MAINTAIN EXPECTATIONS: As a member of the AFJROTC program, every cadet becomes an individual representative of Langham Creek High School, the United States Air Force, and the Corps of Cadets. As a result, professional, courteous, and respectful behavior is expected from all cadets at all times. While failure to meet these expectations will be managed on a case by case basis, the more experienced a cadet is, the more severe the potential consequences will be. For example, if a first year cadet were to engage in a disrespectful argument with a teacher or staff member that cadet may receive verbal counseling on the proper way to communicate with teacher when there is a disagreement. On the other end of the spectrum, a fourth year cadet guilty of the same infraction could receive a letter of Reprimand or find themselves removed immediately from the AFJROTC program for failure to meet known expectations.
The JROTC disciplinary procedures include: Verbal Counseling, AFJROTC Form 341’s, Letters of Counseling, Letters of Reprimand, and removal from the program depending on the severity of the infraction. The SASI is the final authority on all disciplinary actions.
Verbal Counseling is appropriate when the misconduct is minor and there is no history or pattern of misconduct. This type of counseling could also be used to positively motivate.
AFJROTC FORM 341 is the primary method used to document discrepancies and recognize excellence. All cadets are expected to carry a blank 341 with them at all times. When asked, a cadet must ALWAYS surrender their 341 to higher ranking cadet for documentation purposes. Some examples of situations that may be documented on a 341 include:
- Excellence - Holding a door for someone
- Excellence - Helping a student or teacher
- Excellence - Outstanding classroom conduct (in any classroom)
- Excellence - Outstanding acts of kindness
- Discrepancy - Uniform dirty or improperly worn
- Discrepancy - Unprepared for class (especially not completing homework)
- Discrepancy - Eating, Sleeping, excessive talking, or unauthorized phone usage in class
- Discrepancy - Violation of any standard identified in this cadet guide
Letter of Counseling is strictly a disciplinary tool and will be issued if a cadet has already received three or more negative verbal counselings or 341’s and continues to have problems. In addition, a Letter of Counseling may be issued without previous verbal counselings or 341's if the infraction is considered serious enough. Letters of counseling can be issued by Flight Commanders and above. Examples of more serious infractions may include:
- Refusal to follow directions
- Intentional abuse of cadet officer or cadet NCO authority
- Making improper gestures
Letter of Reprimand Like a Letter of Counseling, a Letter of Reprimand can be issued for repeated infractions mentioned above or for a single extremely serious infraction. Letters of Reprimand can be issued by Flight Commanders and above. Examples of extremely serious infractions may include:
- Cadet Honor Code violations
- Arguing with a teacher of staff member
- Intentional misuse or abuse of school/JROTC property
All Letters of Counseling and Reprimand written by cadets will be reviewed by the StanEval Commander who will in-turn make a determination on whether or not to call a Cadet Review Board for the situation.
Cadet Review Board - Called by the StanEval Commander for the purpose of reviewing a negative situation involving a cadet. The Cadet Review Board will consist of the Corps Commander, Vice Corps Commander, StanEval Commander, Command Chief, and at least one additional Command Staff Commander. The Cadet Review Board will fully investigate the incident. Upon completion of the investigation, the Cadet Review Board will report their findings to the SASI and make a recommendation for disciplinary actions if necessary.
