Grading Policy
During the course of the school year, cadets will receive grades from the Aerospace Science portion of the course, the Leadership Education portion of the course, the Drill
portion of the course, and the Wellness/Physical Fitness portion of the course. Grades in each area will be further broken down into three distinct categories; Checking for Understanding, Relevant Applications, and Summative Assessments. Checking for Understanding include but are not limited to classroom, drill, and wellness participation. Relevant Applications include but are not limited to proper uniform wear, 30 step evaluations, dressing out for wellness training, physical fitness evaluations, and academic projects. Finally, Summative Assessments include but are not limited to exams, major projects, participation in major events.
Grades are determined using the following scale:
A = 90-100%, B = 80-89%, C = 79-75%, C- = 74-70%, F = 69% and below.
Grade distribution is as follows:
DG - Check for Understanding 25%
AS - Relevant Applications 40%
MG - Summative Assessments 35%
In order to receive the SASI’s endorsement, Training and/or Completion Certificate you must maintain at least a 75% academic average.
