FLIGHT OPERATIONS DUTY DESCRIPTIONS
OPERATIONS SQUADRON COMMANDER, FLIGHTS (DOF)
This individual should be at least a third year cadet in good academic standing.
This individual is responsible for:
- Assuming command in the absence of the Cadet Corps Commander and Vice Corps Commander or when directed by the SASI/ASI.
- Organizing and supervising the Flight Commanders as directed by the Cadet Corps Commander. Setting the appearance, discipline, effectiveness, and conduct for all flight commanders to follow.
- Set the LOBO Basic training schedule for all flight commanders to follow to ensure all new cadets exceed acceptable standards in military knowledge, dress and appearance, and drill and ceremony for performances.
- Planning and coordinating extracurricular and co-curricular activities with other JROTC school organizations and Air Force, Army, Navy/Marine JROTC units.
- Conducting Squadron staff meetings as required to ensure the administrative work for the Squadron is accomplished in a timely and accurate manner.
SQUADRON NCOIC
This individual must be at least a second year cadet in good academic standing.
This individual is responsible for:
- Assuming command of the Squadron in the absence of the Squadron Commander and ALL other officers assigned to that squadron.
- Maintaining discipline at squadron activities as well as supervising lower ranking cadet NCOs and airmen.
- Evaluating flight activities under the supervision of the Squadron Commander within the guidelines established by AFJROTC regulations.
- Assisting the CCC in organizing the squadron for pass-in-reviews and parades.
- Ensuring Squadron NCO staff are academically eligible.
FLIGHT COMMANDERS (Flt CC)
These individual must be at least a second year cadet in good academic standing.
These individuals are responsible for:
- Maintaining the appearance, discipline, effectiveness, training, and conduct of the flight.
- Providing drill and ceremonies training to element leaders and flight members as outlined in AFMAN 36-2203.
- Maintaining order and discipline in the absence of instructors.
- Planning and coordinating activities within the flight.
- Recommending the top cadets within the flight for awards and recognition.
- Attending staff meetings (when appropriate).
- Keeping flight members informed of unit and school activities.
- Ensuring Flight Sergeant, Guide, and Element Leaders are academically eligible.
FLIGHT NCOIC's
These individuals must be at least a second year cadet in good academic standing.
These individuals are responsible for:
- Assuming command of the Flight in the absence of the Flight Commander and ALL other officers assigned to that Flight.
- Preparing the flight for inspection and assisting the Flight Commander in teaching drill and ceremonies.
- Taking attendance and reporting to the SASI/ASI.
- Ensuring Element Leaders and members of the flight are academically eligible and assisting cadets who have difficulties with AFJROTC.
ELEMENT LEADERS
Each Flight will have a minimum of two element leaders. Individuals assigned as an Element Leader must be a second year or above and must be in good academic standing.
These individuals are responsible for:
- Training cadets in drill and ceremonies.
- Maintaining control of their flight and assisting the flight commander and flight sergeant.
- Ensuring all cadets in their element are in good standing academically and assisting cadets who are experiencing difficulties in AFJROTC.
GUIDES/GUIDON BEARERS
Each Flight will have one Guide/Guidon Bearer. Individuals assigned to this position can be from any year group as long as they are in good academic standing.
These individuals are responsible for:
- Care and control of the flight guidon.
- Leading the flight in the direction and cadence of march.
