MISSION SUPPORT DUTY DESCRIPTIONS
MISSION SUPPORT SQUADRON COMMANDER (MSS)
This individual should be at least a third year cadet in good academic standing.
This individual is responsible for:
- Maintaining a complete record of all events and activities that take place.
- Assisting the SASI/ASI in scheduling cadets for base visits and similar activities.
- Ensuring all squadron staff meet academic requirements.
- Maintaining the official Cadet Corps personnel files.
- Maintaining the Cadet Calendar.
- Maintaining the Corps website.
- Conducting Squadron staff meetings as required to ensure the administrative work for the Squadron is accomplished in a timely and accurate manner.
SQUADRON NCOIC
This individual must be at least a second year cadet in good academic standing.
This individual is responsible for:
- Assuming command of the Squadron in the absence of the Squadron Commander and ALL other officers assigned to that squadron.
- Maintaining discipline at squadron activities as well as supervising lower ranking cadet NCOs and airmen.
- Evaluating flight activities under the supervision of the Squadron Commander within the guidelines established by AFJROTC regulations.
- Assisting the CCC in organizing the squadron for pass-in-reviews and parades.
- Ensuring Squadron NCO staff are academically eligible.
ACADEMICS
This individual should be at least a second year cadet in good academic standing.
This individual is responsible for:
- Verifying and tracking cadet grades.
- Identifying cadets in need of tutoring assistance and connecting these cadets with cadets that can provide tutoring in needed subjects.
INFORMATION MANAGEMENT (IM)
This individual should be at least a second year cadet in good academic standing.
This individual is responsible for:
- Maintaining personnel records on all cadets and insuring only authorized personnel have access to them.
- Promptly posting any changes or additions, such as awards, position changes, promotions, etc.
- The compilation, submission, and posting of merits/demerits and service points earned by cadets.
- Maintaining attendance records for group staff meetings, briefings, leadership training, extracurricular and co-curricular activities and special functions.
- Maintaining administrative files, correspondence, and ensuring all TX-20061 Forms are available.
- Keeping, publishing and posting minutes of staff meetings.
- Maintaining the Corps organizational chart.
- Appointing at least one individual from each flight to assist with these requirements. The individuals appointed from each flight can be from any year group as long as they are in good academic standing.
HISTORIAN (HI)
This individual should be at least a second year cadet in good academic standing.
This individual is responsible for:
- The recording and recovery of historical information and data pertaining to Corps activities and working closely with Public Affairs to ensure photo opportunities aren’t lost.
- The documentation of historical information and data pertaining to Corps activities on computer or electronic media.
- Maintaining a unit scrapbook, history, or other records reflecting the tradition, accomplishments, and activities of the unit.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Mission Support Commander.
- Appointing at least one individual from each flight to assist with these requirements. The individuals appointed from each flight can be from any year group as long as they are in good academic standing.
MORALE, WELFARE, AND RECREATION (MWR)
This individual should be at least a second year cadet in good academic standing.
This individual is responsible for:
- Providing recreational and resiliency opportunities that enhance the well-being and morale of JROTC cadets
- Offering a variety of activities centered around fitness, social, and community engagements that promote personal growth and team cohesion among JROTC cadets.
- Fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie within the JROTC community through social and cultural events and activities.
- Enhancing their overall experience within the program.
PUBLIC AFFAIRS (PA)
This individual should be at least a second year cadet in good academic standing.
This individual is responsible for:
- Corps public relations and affairs.
- Publishing a Corps newsletter and maintaining a publicity bulletin board, or other internal information media.
- Ensuring the school’s daily announcements are submitted 2 days prior to the day of the event.
- Updating website content as required.
